Boards Create New Committees – Request Nominations to Serve

Newsletter Home

At their August 2007 meetings, the VMGSIA and VMLP Members’ Supervisory Boards created four joint committees to advise the boards and management.  We are soliciting nominations from the membership to present to the board at their November meetings.  Committees will be made of up to 7 members who will be appointed to serve one year terms.  Committees are expected to meet 1-2 times annually at the VML Insurance Programs office in Richmond and to periodically review materials developed by staff and provide feedback.  Committee members will be reimbursed for travel and lodging expenses.  We expect to hold kick off meetings in early 2008.

A description of each committee, its purpose and member representative eligibility is as follows:

Law Enforcement (Staff Contact: Thomas Bullock, Law Enforcement Specialist)
This committee will advise the boards and management on the development and implementation of law enforcement materials, services and training to be provided to members by VML Insurance Programs staff.  Emphasis on law enforcement liability and fit-for-duty issues.  Committee members must be police chiefs or equivalent.

Human Resources (Staff Contact: Tina Stevens, Director of Human Resources)
This committee will advise the boards and management on the development and implementation of employment practices liability materials, services and training.  Committee members must be either chief administrative officers representing members with no human resources staff or human resource directors.

Safety Services (Staff Contact: Beth Rosenthal, Director of Safety Services)
This committee will advise the board and management on the development and implementation of safety department materials, services and programs.  Committee members must be persons in a management role with responsibility for the member’s safety program.

Technology (Staff Contact: Steven Bergman, Director of Technology)

Qualified applicants are encouraged to contact the staff members noted at (800) 963-6800 above to express interest no later than October 15, 2007.  Be prepared to follow up with a short bio or resume.  VMGSIA and VMLP are member owned programs.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to help shape your program.  We look forward to working with you.
