Compensation Survey System - Tedd Povar of Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia coordinates the new on-line Compensation Survey System. It is a new, great way for localities to have access to Virginia local government pay and benefit information 24/7. The system now has 135 subscribers, many of whom have done a good job of putting their information up on the system. The system also has a full benefits side to allow review of medical insurance programs and costs, leave programs, and other benefits. Elected officials' compensation is also available. NEW VMLP Human Resource Center - VML Insurance Programs recently announced its new Human Resource Center that is now available to all Virginia Municipal Liability Pool (VMLP) members which purchase Local Government Liability coverage. Eligible member entities can now get the organization's employment questions answered by calling the toll-free HR Helpline. The Center is staffed by professionals who specialize in employment issues such as FMLA, FLSA, ADA , as well as various types of discrimination based allegations.

Lesson Learned - Water Heaters - Three hundred thousand dollars damage from a 25 gallon water heater leak ? you've got to be kidding! Significant damage was recently done to about 50% of a building as the result of a slow leaking water heater.
