NT24 NURSE TRIAGE REPORTING SERVICES

VML Insurance Program is excited to offer nurse triage and reporting services to our members.  We have partnered with Coventry Workers' Compensation Services to introduce Nurse Triage 24 (NT24).  We encourage all of our members to participate in this program, regardless of the number of workers' compensation claims reported per year. 

Immediately following a work related incident, employees are provided the services of a registered nurse (RN) to assist them in determining the "Right Care at the Right Time in the Right Setting".  The assistance provided by the employer immediately following a work related incident greatly determines the outcome of a workers' compensation claim (time lost from work, cost, etc.).  With NT24, employees have the opportunity to speak with a RN immediately following the work related incident.  The RN provides triage services and with the employee determines the best course of action for appropriate care.  NT24 services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per years.

The RN will also collect the information necessary to complete the state required Employer's Accident Report.  Following the call with NT24, a report of accident will be sent via secure email to the member contact(s) and VML Insurance Programs.  It is no longer necessary for the supervisor/member to complete an Employer's Report of Injury and send it to VML if these services are utilized.

Nurse triage services have been successful in providing medical assistance to injured employees and significantly reducing workers' compensation costs.  Members that have enrolled have experienced a reduction in treatment due to self-care recommendations where appropriate, panel of physicians being utilized in lieu of emergency rooms, reduction in time employees are out of the work, and significant improvement in the lag time of reporting claims.

Additionally, an Employee PowerPoint presentation is available on the VML Insurance Programs website, which explains the process and addresses some FAQs.  It is not necessary to log onto our website to get to this presentation.

To utilize NT24 nurse triage and reporting services an enrollment template must be completed.  This form is located on the VML Insurance Programs website.  Once the template is completed send it to Robin Duvall, Director of Workers' Compensation Claims with the VML Insurance Program (rduvall@vmlins.org).   It will take approximately 2 weeks to complete the enrollment process once the template is returned.
